The STEM Discovery Week from 24 to 30 April 2017 celebrates all the opportunities that studies and careers in the field of science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) have to offer!
European Schoolnet, a network of 31 Ministries of Education in Europe, is organising various activities on this occasion to raise awareness about STEM studies and careers, as part of three European projects.
Scientix, which is funded by the Horizon 2020 framework for research and innovation of the European Union, has three competitions for teachers. They can “make their own poster” to show how their favourite Scientix resources, “organise STEM events” or discuss ideas for classroom activities based on their “favourite science books”. Scientix will select two winners in each competition and invite them to a Science Projects Workshop at the Future Classroom Lab in Brussels from 23 to 25 June 2017!
STEM Alliance recently introduced a new tool that facilitates exchange and collaboration between schools and industry. The peak of these activities will take place during the STEM Discovery Week. Teachers and schools who use the tool to organise such activities may also be invited to the Science Projects Workshop in June.
Last but not least, the Amgen Teach project is holding two workshops for teachers in Germany and Belgium. Additionally, it invites people to register for a special session of its Distance Learning Activity of the Molecoolar Kitchen, which introduces scientific ideas and procedures to be used in kitchens.
