The World Science Day for Peace and Development, which is recognised internationally by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO), is celebrated each year on 10 November. In 2017, this day is dedicated to the theme of “Science for Global Understanding,” to demonstrate how scientists broaden our understanding of the remarkable and fragile planet that we live on. Schools are strongly encouraged to organise their own events on this occasion.
