This Future Classroom Scenario has been developed as part of the Europeana DSI-2 project. The main objectives of this scenario are to introduce students to the famous painter Alfons Mucha and his life, to Art nouveau and to help them understand how European borders have changed. Through this scenario students also discuss about the past and present situation of travelling and if they feel European or Czech citizens.
Pupils watch Alfons Mucha picture speaking and encouraging them to read his life. Pupils are divided to teams and read Mucha´s biography. They discuss together how borders have changed since Mucha lived and discuss today experiences of travelling. They go back to teams and discuss their experiences abroad. They vote if they feel more European or Czech and why. In second part of the project a teacher introduces Art nouveau. Pupils are encouraged to choose from three levels of art activities to make their own Art nouveau artwork.
