Venue: All the courses will be organised at European Schoolnet's own training venue, the Future Classroom Lab, a unique and inspiring learning environment in Brussels, that challenges visitors to rethink the role of pedagogy, technology and design in their classrooms.

Target audience: The courses are aimed at primary and secondary teachers and ICT coordinators, enthusiastic to enhance their teaching through new ideas, tools and pedagogies. Some courses have a specific target audience, please see the details. All courses will be delivered in English and the participants have ot have at least solic basic skills (listening, speaking).

Fees 2018:

  • 2-day courses: 280€ incl. meals (2 lunches and 1 dinner)
  • 3-day courses: 400€ incl. meals (3 lunches and 1 dinner)
  • 5-day courses: 650€ incl. meals (5 lunches and 1 dinner)
  • EUN can also organise accommodation if requested
  • Some exceptions may apply
     

Reserving places: The places are given on first-come, first-served basis for definitive bookings (funding confirmed). The courses will run if there are a minimum of 15 participants in each. Each course will be confirmed latest 2 months before. Fill in the course inquiry & booking form here.

Large groups? Having a large group of participants from the same institution participating in a single course can affect the dynamics and experience of the training event, and can reduce the vital aspect of cultural exchange, networking and group dynamics/development. If you plan to send more than 6 teachers to a single course, please contact fcl@eun.org.

Cancellation policy: If the participant cancels his/her participation up to 6 weeks before the course begins, there are no cancellation fees. If the participation is cancelled between 6 weeks and 2 weeks before the course starts, 50% of the course fee will be charged. Also, in case accommodation is included and can't be cancelled, it will be charged. If they cancel any later, there will not be any refund. Substitutions are possible right up to the start of the course.

Collaborative teaching and learning with ICT tools

2-DAY WORKSHOP   |   29-30 January 2018  

Collaboration is a valuable 21st-century skill, yet teaching about or through collaboration remains rare in schools because of a lack of understanding of what real collaboration in an educational setting means. The participants will explore a range of tools and ideas that help them to promote collaborative and team work among students and to integrate ICT into their teaching practice in a collaborative and sustainable way. The workshop is ideal for teachers involved in eTwinning, giving them ideas to set up more innovative collaboration projects.


Entrepreneurial Learning with ICT tools

2-DAY WORKSHOP   |  5-6 March 2018    

"Sense of initiative and entrepreneurship" is a key competence to be acquired through education and should be developed from primary education in each subject. Entrepreneurship is an individual's ability to turn ideas into action. It includes problem solving, team-working, creativity, innovation, risk taking, ability to plan and manage projects in order to achieve objectives. It is about enabling young people to develop the mind-set and skills they need for life and work. In this workshop the participants will explore methods and tools to support entrepreneurial mind-set and skills of learners and learn how to apply them in any subject and any age group with the help of ICT tools. The teachers will learn also how to integrate entrepreneurial dimension in their eTwinning projects and hear about useful online resources.


Future Classroom Scenarios

2-DAY WORKSHOP   |   26-27 March 2018    FULL

The Future Classroom Scenarios workshop gives participants an opportunity to explore innovative approaches and technologies to enhance classroom delivery, and work with other teachers from across Europe to develop new ideas for everyone's own classroom and school. The course is designed to give a hands-on approach to help participants develop their own ideas about 21st Century Learning and the effective use of technology. The participants will also discover the renewed Future Classroom Toolkit, a useful resources for schools and educators to develop their teaching.


Interactive technologies for the future classroom

5-DAY COURSE   |   9-13 April 2018   LAST PLACES AVAILABLE

The participants will learn in this course tools and methodologies to increase and enhance the level of interaction in the classroom. The pedagogically-oriented course addresses topics like student collaboration, freeware for brainstorming and mapping of students' pre-knowledge, interactive whiteboards (IWB) and using different widgets with them, creating interactive exercises and Bring Your Own Device (BYOD).

Priority is given for 5-day participants, if places are available it's also possible to attend for 3 days.


Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics in primary school classrooms

5-DAY COURSE   |   25-29 June 2018  Special fee 350€

The "Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics in primary school classrooms" course provides primary teachers, with no particular STEM background, with resources and ideas that will help them bring effective and quality teaching of STEM disciplines at primary level, while developing and applying innovative teaching approaches to increase young students' knowledge, skills and interest in STEM. The course includes hands-on workshops (e.g. coding) and active exploring of online resources such as virtual labs and research centers or space related activities, among other ingenious tools. Primary teachers have the opportunity to exchange knowledge while being introduced to different creative teaching approaches and practices, to be used both in STEM and in cross-curricula capacity, in the classroom. The course is co-organized by Scientix, the community for Science education in Europe.


Enhancing creativity and innovation in my classroom

Do schools kill or nurture creativity? Would you like your school to be a place where the students can develop skills and attitudes that combine elements such as creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, imagination and inventiveness? This course will lead the participants to reflect on how to nurture creativity in students and how to teach creatively! The participants will explore a range of (ICT) tools strategies for this, such as content creation, digital storytelling, flipped classroom, augmented reality, content curation, etc. The course is designed to enhance the joy of learning. It is aimed at teachers who want to learn how to create innovative learning content and who want to network with like-minded peers.

Make learning accessible: Special Educational Needs in my classroom

2-DAY WORKSHOP   |   September 2018  

According to the TALIS study in 2013, teachers stated that supporting students with special needs were one of their greatest needs. The term "special needs" usually covers those for whom a special learning need has been formally identified because they are mentally, physically or emotionally disadvantaged. ICT can benefit all students, but for those with disabilities it enables them to access learning, gives them greater autonomy, unlocks the potential for those with communication difficulties, etc. The workshop will provide an introduction for teachers who would like to learn how to design lessons and activities for children with learning difficulties.


Programming for the 21st century classroom

5-DAY COURSE   |   October 2018 

Programming and computational thinking skills are becoming ever more important in our society and working life. Learning to code develops various skills such as problem-solving, logical reasoning and creativity, and can help student motivation in mathematics theory as it encourages them to apply their knowledge. Schools are key players in introducing programming to students in an engaging way, and help defuse negative stereotypes around computer science. During the course teachers will learn about the importance of programming in today's society and education, learn ways to introduce programming in cross-curricular work, discover and test different programming tools, explore ways to motivate and encourage students, and develop a programming lesson plan for their classrooms.

The course is addressed to secondary school teachers: Computer science teachers who want to get new ideas, tools for teaching their subject AND STEM and other teachers who would like to link to computer science concepts and/or apply programming in their subjects. The participants are expected to have intermediate computer skills, but previous programming experience is not necessary.

Priority is given for 5-day participants, if places are available it's also possible to attend for 3 days.


Digital citizenship for the future classroom

5-DAY COURSE   |   November 2018  

Developing digital citizenship is important for schools and educators. This course includes two parts: the first one focuses on digital skills and the second one on eSafety. How to support the development of a wide range of digital skills that ensure young people leaving school have the skills required by the labour market and by an increasingly digitized society? At this course the participants will focus on such digital skills and tools and resources that are available to them. The course will also focus on what the increased use of ICT means for eSafety in the classroom. The participants will explore answers to this question and will learn how to manage issues such as copyright, privacy, personal safety and verification of sites, and how to get students to engage with these issues and their own personal safety proactively.

Priority is given for 5-day participants, if places are available it's also possible to attend only one of the two parts of the course.

  • 3 days: Digital Skills, 6-8 November
  • 2 days: Developing an eSafe classroom, 9-10 November
     

Active learning in my school and classroom

2-DAY WORKSHOP | Autumn 2018

The Future Classroom is a space for active learning. It integrates the optimal use of the learning space, technology and pedagogy to build 21st century skills for the learners. In this 2-day workshop we will explore how the Future Classroom learning zones together with a Future Classroom pedagogy and technologies effects students. The workshop combines both theory and hands-on activities, and the participants will learn about:

  • The concept of the Future Classroom
  • The concept of active learning
  • Pedagogies and ICT for the Future Classroom including many examples of learning activities
  • The design of learning activities to promote active learning
  • The design of a Future Classroom and in-between-spaces
  • Distributed leadership and involving different stakeholders and colleagues.

The course is aimed at teachers who want to adapt the principles of active learning into their teaching practice, and teachers and coordinators who consider designing or adapting learning spaces at school.


Flipped classroom

2-DAY WORKSHOP  |  Autumn 2018

In this workshop the teachers will explore "flipped classroom", an emerging form of teaching and learning: Students learn new content through material gathered or prepared by the teacher like video lectures, usually at home. What used to be homework (assigned problems) is now done in class with teachers offering more personalized guidance and interaction with students, instead of lecturing. The participants will get an introduction on how to plan flipped lessons, how to create activities and content, and what kind of ICT tools to use.
