The European Coding Initiative is organising a high-level event in Brussels on Monday 12 October. The event will gather representatives from the European Commission, Ministries of Education, ICT companies and the civil society, along with young people and entrepreneurs, joining together as advocates for teaching and learning how to code both in formal and non-formal learning environments: at home, in school, at work, and in the wider community.

The "pedagogical hackathon" organized by the University of Poitiers is a free-of-charge contest open to all those interested to get engaged during one day to create an innovative learning scenarios including resources and a video clip. The theme of the Hackathon is "Digital: the power to do things together and differently!"
The European Commission has recently published two new reports on the state of the teaching profession in Europe. The first report, delivered by Eurydice, deals with working conditions, professional development and demographic situation of teachers. The second report, prepared by CRELL research centre, provides analysis of the teaching practices in the classroom.

While great teaching happens in every conceivable kind of environment, sometimes having a classroom that's tailor-made for 21st century learning can make all the difference. That's certainly the case in the Lisbon, Portugal suburb of Setúbal, where Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert Carlos Cunha has helped to create the Future Classroom.
Seven new videos showcasing innovative pedagogical practice in European classrooms have been published. The videos have been created by the Interactive Classroom Working Group that launched the classroom practice series last year with four videos.
In 2014 it was decided to launch and provide ongoing support for a pan-European network of Future Classroom Ambassadors. The concept of Future Classroom Ambassadors is an important mechanism to leverage the results of EUN projects like iTEC, Living Schools Lab, and Creative Classrooms Lab, as well as future projects that will run under the general umbrella of the Future Classroom Lab.
