At CEIP Antonio Monzón, our Aula del Futuro (Future Classroom Lab) is committed to rethinking learning spaces and methodologies to provide our students with more meaningful and more engaging learning experiences. The target audience is primary school students aged 6 to 12, but younger children in Pre-primary stage (ages 3 to 5) also participate. They begin developing their digital competence in a responsible way, using age-appropriate activities such as unplugged robotics.
Our Future Classroom initiative is inspired by the European Schoolnet FCL framework and aims to integrate flexible spaces, active learning and emerging technologies into our classroom practice.
Key elements of our FCL space are the following:
Flexible zones for creating, interacting, exploring, investigating, collaborating and presenting
STEAM and robotics projects (Bee-Bots, Lego Education, CODEY ROCKY, Mtiny, Code and go robot)
Multimedia creation: podcasts, green-screen videos, digital storytelling
Based science projects using experimentation tables and research corners
Collaborative challenges that promote critical thinking and problem-solving
Generative AI in a responsible and educational context
3D Printer and Cricut (Cutting plotter) used for prototyping, building models and producing customized parts or educational materials.
The FCL methodology based on active learning is at the centre of our interest and what we strive to develop, both in teachers and learners. They are actively involved through tinkering, project-based learning, collaborative and cooperative learning, gamification and learning through stations or zones.
Partnership: We have received support from the school’s Parents’ Association (AMPA) and Beniel Town Council.
