The current Faculty of Teacher Training is the centre with the longest educational tradition of the University of Extremadura since its beginnings date back to 1842 when the "Escuela Normal de Maestros" de Cáceres was created. In the 90's of the last century, in accordance with the new organisation of the Educational System, it became necessary to adapt the Study Plans to the new context and the teaching of the specialties that have been taught up to the present day began.
In this way, the Diploma of Teacher Training in its specialties was progressively introduced. Likewise, in the 1995-96 academic year, the Diploma in Social Education was added to the educational offer of the Centre. In 1999, with the incorporation of the Degree in Anthropology to its classrooms, the old School of Teaching, then School of Teacher Training of E.G.B. of Cáceres, became the current Faculty of Teacher Training.
Currently, the Faculty offers undergraduate studies in Primary Education, both in Spanish and in bilingual mode, Early Childhood Education and Social Education. In addition, postgraduate studies such as the Master's Degree in Digital Education, Secondary Education Teacher Training, Research in Social Sciences, Anthropology and Teaching Portuguese as a Foreign Language are also offered.
