FCLab Jyväskylä

One of the ten FCLabs of Finland (Future Classroom Lab) is located in Jyväskylä, in central Finland. The Teacher Training School of Jyväskylä, which belongs to the Faculty of Education and Psychology at the University of Jyväskylä, organises basic and upper secondary education, as well as supervised teaching practice which is part of the teacher training.

Jyväskylä Teacher Training School carries out experimental, development, and research cooperation with various faculties and departments of the university, as well as, for example, with other training schools. The school has about 100 staff members, over 1000 students, and about 800 teacher trainees do their teaching practise in the school annually.

The aims of FCLab of Jyväskylä are the development of new and improved learning environments and pedagogical solutions utilizing digitalization, as well as the testing and development of new technological solutions to support teaching. We are developing, among other things, the opportunities brought by artificial intelligence in teaching and learning.

One of our development targets is also to strengthen the digital pedagogical skills of teacher trainees and staff members and to implement our school’s information strategy.

In the upper level of comprehensive school and upper secondary school, an XR class is being developed, sensor-based learning is being studied, and the ability of artificial intelligence to create more individual learning materials in different subjects is being investigated.
