The Future Lab at Leonardo da Vinci Campus in Umbertide is a cutting-edge educational innovation laboratory designed to experiment with and promote new teaching methodologies supported by advanced digital technologies. It was established thanks to ministerial funding within the framework of the National Digital School Plan (PNSD), and it occupies over 200 square meters in a flexible and reconfigurable space, designed to go beyond traditional static classroom divisions and to foster dynamic and collaborative teaching approaches.
The laboratory is organized into six thematic areas, each dedicated to a different pedagogical and functional approach:
Investigation: A flexible space that stimulates curiosity and critical thinking, where students can explore autonomously using advanced technological tools such as digital microscopes, educational robotics, and 3D viewers, working individually or in groups.
Creation: An area dedicated to multimedia design and production, equipped with cameras, microphones, and editing software for creating podcasts, videos, and animations, to support the development of transversal skills and collaborative work.
Development: An informal space for reflection and self-paced learning, featuring comfortable furnishings and portable devices, ideal for deepening personal interests and experimenting with personalized study paths.
Interaction: A zone designed to enhance active participation and the use of interactive technologies such as digital whiteboards and mobile devices, encouraging dialogue and engagement of the entire class even in more traditional settings.
Collaboration: An environment supporting group work based on cooperative learning and brainstorming, enabled by sharing software and interactive devices that facilitate shared management of activities and effective communication.
Exchange: The final area where students present their work using digital tools and reconfigurable spaces, developing communication skills and adapting their messages for different audiences, both within the school and online.
Overall, the Future Lab at Leonardo da Vinci Campus in Umbertide is a dynamic model that invites a rethinking of the roles of teachers and students, transforming the classroom into a flexible, multifunctional environment where teaching connects, stimulates, and actively engages every participant. In this setting, teachers and students become protagonists of a participatory, adaptable learning experience centred on the conscious use of technology to connect, engage, and inspire the educational journey.
