KUDLOVSKA@HE Future Classroom Lab

KUDLOVSKA@HE Future Classroom Lab is a modern learning environment at Kudlovská Elementary School in Humenné, focused on learning through creation, developing practical skills, and 21st-century competencies. The key goal is to systematically develop the 4C skills – Creativity, Collaboration, Communication, and Critical Thinking – through real-world tasks, digital creation, and projects connected to everyday life.

KUDLOVSKA@HE Future Classroom Lab is built on three fundamental components: flexible space, modern technologies, and innovative teaching methods. Innovative approaches are a core part of our teaching, as demonstrated by successful projects:
• Kudlovská Bell Tower (Orange Foundation)
• Plastic Paradox (ESET Foundation, Build Slovakia) – winning project of the nationwide final
• #Leontína #vonWenckheim #Code – 1st place in EU Code Week Grants for Grassroots for Slovakia and the Czech Republic

The space allows flexible arrangements for different forms of work: team zones, discussion circles, presentation areas, and digital creation spaces. We use project-based learning (PBL), EduScrum, inquiry-based activities, and student conferences, where pupils present their outputs and develop their communication skills. A crucial part of teaching is also the project week, during which students tackle real challenges with a focus on the community.

The technical equipment of KUDLOVSKA@HE Future Classroom Lab supports learning through creation:

  • Robotics and programming: Blue-Bots, LEGO Spike, Intelino train, Micro:bit

  • Digital creation and design: 3D printers, laser cutter, cutting plotter, sublimation printer, and heat press

  • Multimedia and digital content: green screen studio, camera, drone

  • Digital tools: digital microscopes, tablets, laptops, interactive panel

Students carry out environmental projects, such as research on plastics and recycling, presenting their results to the public. They learn to prototype, test, troubleshoot, and justify their solutions – learning through hands-on practice and experience.

KUDLOVSKA@HE Future Classroom Lab connects teachers, students, parents, the city, and professionals from practice. It promotes a culture of open sharing of experiences, as evidenced by our participation in the Ministry of Education’s AI Day challenge, where we organised a professional workshop on using artificial intelligence in education for teachers from nearby schools. Our goal is to become a regional centre of educational innovation and to support schools in transforming teaching toward the future.
