Meli Future Learning Lab

MELI Future Learning Lab for Sicily (M-FLL), aims to transform the traditional learning environment into a dynamic and innovative space, capable of meeting the educational needs of the future.

The Lab was established through a collaboration between Liceo Meli of Palermo and the Italian Research Institute in Education (INDIRE) to create advanced, innovative and inclusive learning environments. These are intended for teacher training and professional development activities, experimental and demonstrative initiatives for teachers and school leaders, and educational activities with students from different school levels, following a vertical design that includes all schools in the area.

The setup and management of the environment, in terms of spaces, tools and furnishings, are supported by a methodological framework and follow a holistic approach, considering not only technology but also the physical environment and its impact on the learning experience. Environmental aspects such as lighting, acoustics, and colors are taken into account.

Below are the spaces that make up M-FLL:

  • Spaces 1-2: RoboLab / TechLab

  • Spaces 3-4: SoundLab / DebateLab

  • Spaces 5-6: ExpoAgorà 3.0 - MeliOpen

  • Space 7: Green Classroom

In general, the division of spaces into different specialized areas indicates an integrated approach that embraces various disciplines and teaching methodologies. These spaces offer the possibility to carry out experimental, demonstrative, and training activities on topics related to robotics, technology, sound, debate, and video production, allowing teachers to acquire innovative skills and students to engage in interactive and stimulating learning experiences.

Spaces 1-2 and 3-4 form a single environment that can be used as a whole or as separate spaces, allowing activities to be carried out with larger or smaller groups depending on the planned initiatives. The flexibility of the environments not only ensures the efficient use of resources but also promotes collaboration between schools and the local community, expanding opportunities for learning and knowledge exchange.

Finally, the inclusion of ExpoAgorà 3.0 and MeliOpen, dedicated to experience sharing and active participation of the school and local community, emphasizes the importance of creating an open and collaborative environment that fosters the professional and personal growth of all actors involved in the educational process.
