Through the lens of responsible recycling and the circular economy, this webinar shows how a real-world case study from the battery industry can link STEM subjects with environmental protection, public health, and responsible citizenship.
Participants will explore why lead remains a valuable material in modern society, what can happen when lead-containing products are not managed responsibly, and how science, engineering, and effective recycling systems help keep valuable materials in use while protecting people and the environment. Drawing on practical examples from Clarios' circular business model, the webinar will guide participants through key topics such as materials science, pollution prevention, resource conservation, systems thinking, and sustainable innovation.
The webinar will also demonstrate how these themes can be integrated into science, geography, mathematics, sustainability, and citizenship education through engaging classroom discussions and problem-solving activities.
By the end of the webinar, participants will have fresh ideas, practical teaching approaches, and ready-to-use educational resources that help students understand how STEM knowledge can contribute to solving real-world environmental and societal challenges. No specialist knowledge of batteries is required.
