The Innovation House in Petah Tikva is a municipal innovation and education centre operated by the city in collaboration with partners like the Ministry of Education’s R&D division and industry partners. It functions as a cross-sector “ecosystem” that bridges high tech, industry and formal/non formal education.
The centre provides a gender-inclusive co-working and learning space that “leverages and empowers human capital in entrepreneurship and innovation,” creating interfaces between schools, businesses and the community. In practice it “combines industry, employment and education with the aim of empowering human capital for a better future, while granting equal opportunities to all”. The goal is to equip residents of all ages and abilities with tools and experiences for integration into community and the workforce.
The house serves students, teachers and local entrepreneurs through hands on programs and state of the art learning labs. Its pedagogy follows a Future Classroom Lab model (“Inspire – Empower – Create”) with an emphasis on creativity, resilience and real-world skills in AI, gaming, immersive media and maker culture. For example, Beta School (a learning lab hosted there) runs workshops, hackathons and short courses on new digital technologies and design thinking for educators. It also offers students an “immersive learning” XR dome, AI and video gaming experiences. Notable programs include a “Gaming is Learning” initiative (e.g. a city building project in Minecraft with game industry mentors) and a “Future of Workforce and Me” course for 10th graders, where students meet CEOs/CMOs and work in innovation labs to explore essential 21st century skills.
In all its activities, the Innovation House leverages modern AI tools (also coding labs, VR/AR gear, robotics kits, etc.) and collaborative spaces to promote student-centred, project-based learning linked to the needs of tomorrow’s economy.
